Tanya Vital Talks Future Storytelling at TwitchCon Europe 2025
This weekend I had the huge honour of hosting a panel at TwitchCon Europe 2025 in Rotterdam — Future Storytelling: Gaming, Performance & Twitch.
We took over the NomNom Theatre to explore how platforms like Twitch are changing the way we tell stories — blending gaming, live performance, and interactive tech to create something entirely new.
I was joined by:
Joe Duggan, Digital Programme Manager at National Youth Theatre, who shared how NYT is embracing immersive formats and future-facing training.
Marc Szanto, Solutions Architect at Twitch, who gave us a glimpse into what Twitch offers (and might offer next) for creators working beyond traditional gaming.
Together, we covered a lot:
My project Vital Stories, a live-action, choose-your-own-adventure mystery on Twitch, where the audience used polls, chat, and mini-games to direct the story live.
Game Changers, an XR collaboration between NYT and Megaverse, built using Amazon IVS for low-latency performance.
Incredible examples like Trevor Noah’s Fortnite set, VRChat film premieres, GTA RP productions, and the Emmy-winning Twitch original Artificial: Next.
The panel was streamed live to 300+ viewers and offered a rare glimpse into a genre still being defined.
“We’re building something new here. There’s no name for it yet, but that’s the exciting part.”
We ended with a community Q&A about how Twitch can better support this kind of storytelling: things like branching logic tools, safer AI integration, and more performance-focused features for creators like me.
🧠 What’s Next?
I left the panel feeling inspired — and more determined than ever to push this space forward. I’ll be developing more projects that explore these hybrid formats
📢 The Big Thing is coming to Bradford in 2025 — and I’ll be part of it.
Stay tuned.
